What hasn't been made clear is if this would be a replacement for the Jaguar XK and Jaguar XKR - which is very unlikely, a smaller rival for the Porsche Boxster, or an out and out Ferrari rival to be a new flagship.
Autocar claims it will be made on a cut down Jaguar XJ chassis, suggesting front engined, while Auto Express say it's mid engined and have come up with a very creative image blending the old XJ220 with the Audi R8 to produce their own speculative rendering, and it's not a bad effort! take a look:

We do expect a new coupe to appear in the range before that, the Jaguar XF coupe, which should very closely resemble the C-XF concept car shown in Detroit in 2007, and this should be followed by a convertible version, both to take on the forthcoming Mercedes E-Class Coupe.
